Celiac Disease: 4 reasons to use CBD against symptoms

Gluten intolerance, or celiac disease, is an autoimmune disease that causes constant inflammation of the small intestine, destroying the mucous membranes over time. With constant inflammation, the surface of the intestine shrinks, as does the patient's ability to absorb vital nutrients. All of this can lead to irreversible metabolism breakdown and death without optimal diet and treatment.

1. Symptoms of Celiac Disease

Early problems with diarrhea, bulky and smelly stools, abdominal pain, flatulence, cramps, loss of appetite, weight loss, and anemia may occur when introducing the first gluten-containing foods into your child's diet. However, even as an adult, you didn't win. As it is an autoimmune disease, celiac disease can only manifest in old age, after great mental effort, or after suffering from a severe illness.

In addition to the symptoms mentioned above, adults have osteoporosis, thrush, increased tooth decay, joint pain, fatigue, depression, and anxiety. Women have problems with the menstrual cycle and frequent miscarriages. Thanks to diverse and unspecific manifestations, it usually takes a long time to diagnose celiac disease. The average patient undergoes multiple tests, often taking several years to discover what is really causing their problem.

WARNING: Other Chronic Diseases - Thyroid disorders, type 1 diabetes, and other autoimmune diseases can also be associated with celiac disease.

2. Celiac Disease Treatment

The most effective is lifestyle modification, especially a strict gluten-free diet. It is necessary to exclude from the diet all cereals - rye, barley, oats, even the consumption of beer and other malt beverages is prohibited. Not only are sauces thickened with flour, but we can also find them where we wouldn't expect them – in yogurt, sausage, salami, canned food.

Due to problems with the processing and absorption of nutrients, most celiacs are forced to discontinue dairy products from the diet in the acute phase of the disease. The damaged intestines cannot tolerate even lactose and casein. Once the disease is under control, patients can start consuming a fair amount of dairy products.

Patients who have not been diagnosed for a long time, or those who do not follow a diet, suffer from severe intestinal damage, and their condition needs to be treated with medication. Immunosuppressants are given to anti-inflammatory steroids, which suppress inflammation in the intestine to suppress the body's immune response. However, these medications are a borderline solution because they are not free from side effects that can worsen the patient's overall health. Very often, patients are also given antidepressants to treat anxiety.

3. Celiac Disease and CBD

This excruciating illness often leads patients to try to support and heal their bodies by natural means. They often turn to CBD for the treatment of celiac disease. Those who have tried CBD claim that it helped relieve abdominal pain, restore appetite, and help gain weight, and relieve diarrhea.

CBD also helps a lot in the relaxation, mild symptoms, and anxiety that all chronic illnesses bring. The fact that CBD is a known muscle relaxant has a positive effect on unpleasant cramps. The disease is less restrictive, and the patient is in a better mood and a "more normal" life.

4. Before Trying CBD for Celiac Disease

The first question that will certainly occur to you is whether CBD oils are gluten-free. As CBD is very carefully extracted from the cannabis plant and is produced without additives, it is naturally gluten-free.

CBG and CBD extracts are not psychoactive; on the contrary, they bring a series of benefits for whole-body health. You don't have to worry about becoming a CBD addict.

When starting treatment with CBD, consult the appropriate dosage, preferably increasing the dosage gradually until you find the ideal for you. It may take a while to see the effects, but they will be more permanent. If you are taking immunosuppressants or steroids, be sure not to stop them or reduce their dosage without consulting your doctor.
